Experience the Raspberry Pi program during Robotics Summer CampStudents will spend the week building and programming robots, and experience additional arts activities as we transition from STEM-based learning to STEAM-based learning. There will be field trip options allowing students to understand the real world applications of STEM!
Advanced curricula is available for returning students.

At IRIS, we provide students with educational STEM-based (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) learning programs using LEGO Robotics technology!   The camp structure will provide students with the time and resources required to work with their peers, create complex designs and participate in challenges and activities. Students will explore STEM topics beyond the classroom, create real world applications and discover the countless career opportunities in related fields.

The Raspberry Pi is small, cheap, single-board computer that opens a new door to computer exploration! The Raspberry Pi is a credit card sized computer that allows students to improve their programming and hardware skills.  This level will allow students to explore multiple, easy to access and innovative projects. It can be embedded into innovative projects and has been used to build Internet-connected dispensers, low-res plotters, cell phone–operated coffeemakers, and a solar-powered computer. Students will obtain, configure and carry out simple tasks with a Raspberry Pi. Students will learn how to play sounds, boot up a GUI, program simple tasks, install software and begin to explore hardware control with GPIO (General Purpose Input/Output).

Units in this Course:

    •   Introduction to  Raspberry Pi
    •   Connecting hardware
    •   Installing the Raspbian OS
    •   Working with frequently used Python commands
    •   Controlling a device with GPIO in Python
    •   Creating Graphical User Interface
