IRIS Canada

Job description

Volunteering is much more than just some experience to add to your resume or an opportunity to make some new friends.

Volunteering is very important especially for students with little or no work experience. Volunteering gives you an opportunity to gain new friends, contribute to the community, and experience to put on a resume. Without any work experience to showcase that you can perform a job or point out how you developed skills, the best bet of the time is to turn to volunteering, which will help you land you co-op job.

Being a Volunteer at IRIS gives you unique experience which cannot easily be obtained through regular reception, retail or waitressing experience. For example, working as a volunteer to assist the Instructors in explaining and managing the kids the course technique show-how, during IRIS Summer Camp, can only be achieved either through work that requires years of relevant experience or volunteering that exposes you to those functions. For example, during an interview for a Robotics Instructor position, you can refer to a related volunteer position and describe what you achieved and learnt.

Being a Volunteer at IRIS gives you industry knowledge as most jobs, including co-ops and internships, are generated in a business-to-business setting rather than business-to-consumer (retail and food places). As an example, let’s say you do outreaches through outbound client calls describing about a Robotics Workshop to schools, sure enough, you are going to have an advantage over somebody who does not have this industry knowledge.

Being a Volunteer at IRIS gives you industry networking; many jobs are only advertised to volunteers and internal employees; this hidden job market helps many to either land entry-level jobs or internships upon graduation solely because they exhibited a high level of performance and enthusiasm during their volunteer involvement.

Brilliant opportunities could come from IRIS Volunteer position, much more than a contribution to your skills/resume!

Send your resume to info@iriscanada.com if you want to work as a Volunteer for Robotics/Coding classes/camps or in Marketing to contribute to outbound personal selling.
